Thanks so much for stopping by my site! My name is Esther Geoffrey, and I am new to the world of blogging. I’ve been a little hesitant to jump in, but many people (not the least of whom is my husband) keep telling me that I have a lot to offer. After much encouragement, I finally decided to give it a try.
My first task was to come up with a description of who I am, and wow… that’s quite an interesting list. So what in the world is a Yeshua-following, gluten-free, homeschooling wife and mother, anyway? Since labels and catch-phrases only start to scratch the surface, let me introduce myself a little more thoroughly. I’ll take things point by point…
My first and foremost identity is as a follower of Yeshua. “Who is that?” you might ask. Well, Yeshua is the Messiah of Israel, sent by God to restore His Jewish people to Himself, and ultimately to bring salvation to the entire world. Through Him, I have life—not just in my physical body, but in my deepest parts. Every breath I have is devoted to becoming more like Yeshua, for He is not only my Savior, but also my Master. My most recent major life change has been becoming gluten-free. (Gluten is a protein found in wheat, rye and barley.) After years of dealing with severe gastrointestinal issues, I finally read about celiac disease in a magazine… and I had all the symptoms. Having already lost all confidence in doctors, I decided to just take gluten out of my diet without going through any testing. Of course, I had no idea at the time what a significant lifestyle change I was making, but I saw an amazing and instant improvement in my health. Sorting through all the details of living gluten-free is definitely a challenging journey, and there have already been lots of ups and downs along the way. Hopefully, as I share my experiences and insights, the things I am continuing to learn each day will be helpful to you as well! (Click here to read my celiac story…)
One of the greatest gifts I was given by my mother was the twelve years she spent homeschooling me. It is because of her sacrifice that I have become the person I am today. Now that I have children of my own, I could never imagine giving them anything less! My three boys, Isaac (25), Josiah (20), and Hosea (17), are special treasures who love to learn, and it is my joy to help them become mighty men of God. While academics are of value—and I’m so thankful God is helping them excel in those areas—the character traits and values we are able to impart to the boys day in and day out are so much more important. I certainly don’t claim to have all the homeschooling answers, but if you have any questions that I might be able to help answer, feel free to ask!
And last, but certainly not least, I am a wife. Kevin and I have been married for years, and (next to Yeshua) he is the love of my life. I am his helpmate and biggest fan. By marrying Kevin, I became part of a Messianic Jewish family (I’m not Jewish myself—but like Ruth, I say, “Your people are my people!”). At that point, I began learning how to make a Messianic Jewish home, and—more importantly—learning how to be a godly and submissive wife. While this certainly has not been the easiest process (and I am continuing to learn more every day), it has brought me the greatest joy and freedom I could ever imagine. If you are struggling in your marriage or family life and would like some advice on being a wife, mother, or homemaker, you can contact me and I’ll do my best to help!
So that’s what I mean when I say that I am a Yeshua-following, gluten-free, homeschooling wife and mother. If you have questions about any of these areas (or anything else that’s on your mind), just “ask Esther.” I may not have a perfect answer, but I’ll give you what I have to offer.
